A second weather warning has been issued for Storm Bella on St. Stephen’s Day, and Met Eireann has expanded their alert to cover all of Ireland.
Heavy wind and rain are expected on St. Stephen’s Day from late afternoon and lasting into the early hours of Sunday morning.
Westerly winds associated with Storm Bella will reach mean speeds of 50 – 65km/hr with gusts up to 110km/hr, even stronger at times on the west coast.
With the combination of strong winds, high waves and forecasted storm surge, there is also a risk of coastal flooding along the west coast.
Heavy rains associated with Bella are also forecast move southwards over Ireland throughout the day.
These rains may cause localised flooding in some areas Met Eireann has said.
The alerts for Storm Bella will be in effect from 3pm on Saturday until 4am on Sunday morning.
