Portiuncula Hospital remains under serious pressure as trolley numbers increase to 31

Portiuncula Hospital remains under serious pressure today, as the number of patients on trolleys has increased to 31.

The Ballinasloe hospital has experienced high levels of overcrowding in recent days, with atypically high figures since the bank holiday weekend.

Yesterday, it issued a public advisory, warning patients to expect severe delays for non urgent treatment.

Those attending are asked to consider their GP or out-of-hours service if possible, or the Roscommon Injury Unit between 8am and 8pm.

Meanwhile, UHG has also been struggling with numbers this week – and 52 patients are without a bed today.
