County Council and Oughterard shops work together on road safety campaign

Galway County Council is teaming up with local retailers in Oughterard for a road safety campaign heading into the winter nights.

For this ‘Be Safe, Be Seen’ campaign the county council is distributing free high visibility vests from four stores in Oughterard.

The free vests, meant to ensure that cyclists are pedestrians are visible to motorists on winter evenings and nights, are being provided by the RSA.

The four stores where the free vests can be found are Mannion MACE; Keoghs Centra; McNamara’s Day Today and Joyce’s.

“With the dark evenings at present, it is very important that all pedestrians and cyclists are visible to drivers as they are vulnerable road users,” the county council said.
